On Sunday 12th June, five players from our under 11 girls team stepped in at late notice to create a joint team with Hale Barns CC for a softball festival at Brooklands CC, to avoid the Hale Barns team having to drop out after they found themselves short of a full team. Playing under the name "Hale Barns Georgians" the two sets of girls immediately settled in to form a happy team, enjoying the day together both on and off the field.

The new team took to the field determined to have fun and supported each other loudly from the first ball. Some excellent cricket followed, with strong batting displays and tight bowling and fielding leading to wins in both our group matches and a semi-final against Wythenshawe. Showing no signs of nerves the team recorded their highest batting total of the day in the final against Macclesfield, and with regular wickets being taken they defended the total comfortably in the field to end up as tournament winners!

Thank you to our hosts at Brooklands for a very well organised event which provided an opportunity for lots of girls to play lots of cricket in a fun environment. Thanks also to our new friends at Hale Barns - teaming up was a great experience for everyone and a great example of cricket bringing people together and a willingness to get the game on.
